My awning won't open or close any more. Is that fixable?
Usually. On a motorized awning it's most often the motor, the remote or the power supply rather than the awning itself; on a manual one it's typically the gearbox or the arms. Send a photo and a short description of what it does and we'll tell you what we're likely looking at.
Should I recover the fabric or replace the whole awning?
If the frame is straight and solid, recovering costs considerably less than replacing. If the frame is corroded, bent or the mounting has moved, replacement is the better spend. We'll give you the honest answer rather than the bigger one.
How long does an awning normally last?
Frames outlast fabric by a wide margin. Fabric life depends heavily on exposure — inland UV and desert sun age it faster than coastal shade — and on whether it's rinsed occasionally. We'd rather set your expectation from your actual exposure than quote a headline number.
What should I send you to get a repair quote?
A few photos of the whole awning and a close-up of the problem area, plus a short note on what it does or doesn't do. That usually tells us whether it's a fabric, motor or frame issue before we come out.
Is it worth repairing an old awning at all?
Often, yes. A sound frame is most of the cost of a new awning, so a recover or a motor swap can buy years for far less than replacement. Where the frame is corroded or bent, we'll say so and quote a replacement instead.
