How do I know what size awning my patio needs?
Measure how the sun actually moves across the space, not just the patio itself. Width is easy; projection is what decides whether you're still in shade at 5pm. We do a free on-site measure so the size comes from your patio rather than a catalog.
Will an awning make the inside of my house cooler?
If it shades glass, yes — stopping sun before it hits the window is far more effective than cooling the room afterwards. The effect is biggest on west and south-facing rooms.
Do I need permission from my HOA?
In most Inland Empire and Orange County communities, yes — architectural approval before installation, and often a restricted color palette. Get your guidelines before choosing a fabric.
What drives the price of a residential awning?
Size first, then whether it's motorized, then fabric and frame specification, then how difficult the mounting is. We quote per project after measuring rather than per square foot, because two patios the same size can be very different jobs.
Fixed or retractable for a home patio?
